Youth Activities

The Fork-Waugh United Methodist Charge believes that providing enriching, Christian activities for youth is the key to our future.

These activities include:

  • United Methodist Youth Group
  • Sunday School
  • Children's Choir
  • Vacation Bible School (held each summer at alternating churches)

Many children and youth from the churches also participate in community groups that meet at Fork UMC, such as the Girl and Boy Scouts.

Contact the charge office for more information: 410-592-8303.

Church Groups

The Fork-Waugh Charge hosts several church groups which provide fellowship and further the Christian mission of the charge. These include:

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women visit nursing homes and shut-ins and gather for other social and supportive activities.

Pilot Club

The Pilot Club meets monthly for dinner and other social activities. The club also sponsors a yearly Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at Fork, the annual Church Picnic at Beachmont Christian CampĀ and a Christmas dinner at a local restaurant.

Fork United Methodist Church and Waugh United Methodist Church regularly provide picturesque, country settings for Christian weddings. Contact Reverend Richard Mortimore for more information (church office: 410-592-8303).

Waugh Church - the Scene of Country Weddings

Waugh United Methodist Church has been the scene of many country weddings, including the final "wedding" scene in Paramount's 1999 movie, "Runaway Bride."

The lovely 157-year-old sanctuary, featuring original stained-glass windows, provides a warm, intimate setting for up to 125 guests. Located in a rural setting on Long Green Pike, one quarter mile from Harford Road, and only four miles from the Baltimore Beltway, there is ample parking in the church parking area. A reception tent can also be set up on the spacious, well-kept grounds.

To be married at Waugh Church, the prospective bride or groom must contact Rev. Richard Mortimore at 410-592-8303. The couple to be married is required to meet with the minister for several counseling sessions, and must attend some Sunday worship services.

There is a fee for non-members of the church for the use of the sanctuary for a wedding, as well as fees for the minister, organist, and janitor.

Fork Family Fun Nights

Family nights are designed for fun and fellowship with an appeal to all ages. They are usually held on the first Saturday of the month from September through April at 7:00 p.m.

Each family provides a snack which everyone enjoys along with fellowship and games. A few times a year we have a theme such as "Western Night" where we serve dinner, decorate and dress around the theme. These theme nights are held at 6:00 p.m.

In December we sometimes work on a mission project such as making cookies for "Manna House." In February our youth group treats us to homemade pizza. We welcome everyone to these times of fun and fellowship!
